The Rock of Gibraltar is a peninsula, which means that it is surrounded by water on three sides. You can reach Gibraltar by a variety of ways:
NOTE: All EC nationals can enter Gibraltar with identity cards or passport. A British visitor's passport is also valid for entry into Gibraltar and Spain, but a full passport is required should you wish to visit North Africa. Once you get to Gibraltar you can either use the bus service, which is quite cheap at 40p a trip, whatever your destination, or you can get a taxi cab of which there are plenty of and the driver is required by law to carry and produce on demand a copy of the taxi fares If you wish to drive yourself you should be aware that traffic drives on the right. The speed limit is 50kph (31mph), except where otherwise indicated. It is compulsory to drive with dipped headlights at night. Car hire: Both self-drive and chauffeur-driven cars are available. Touring outside Gibraltar can also be arranged. When driving motorised two-wheeled vehicle crash helmets must be worn at all times. The following documents are required to drive into Gibraltar:
Please note that no entry tax or other fees are payable if you drive into Gibraltar. There have been instances where people have been conned into paying an entrance fee by Spanish thieves before they enter the border through Spain. DO NOT PAY ANYTHING!
